The Intercessory Prayer Ministry at Eatonton First United Methodist Church began in August 2010.  After two Wednesday night Bible studies in 2009, one by Andy Stanley and another by Jim Cymbala, several participants were convicted by the Holy Spirit that Eatonton FUMC needed a prayer room.  Here, an individual may come in quiet to the Lord "to bring to God, through Jesus Christ and the help of the Holy Spirit, the praises and concerns of our congregation, our community, our nation, and the world by the prayers of individuals and groups."

The prayer room of Eatonton FUMC is located in the Taliaferro House.  There are two sessions per year for volunteers to sign up for one hour a week in the prayer room.  For the year 2012, Session 1 begins on January 30 and Session 2 begins August 27.  Prayer requests come to the prayer room all year, therefore some "prayer warriors" come to the prayer room during the summer months as well.  Eatonton FUMC had 35 prayer volunteers for the very first session in 2010 and by fall 2011 there have been 54 participants.  See "How To Join" for current sign-up dates and how to sign up for an hour in the prayer room any time of the year.

There are three ways to get a prayer request to the prayer room.  One is by email directly to Rhoda Stanford, sesor@bellsouth.net.    Second, fill out the Prayer Request card in the back of the pew on Sundays and put it in the offering plate.  Third, click on the "Prayer Request" menu tab.  Rhoda types up all requests and delivers them to the prayer room once a week.

All prayer requests that come to the prayer room are confidential.
