The music ministry at Eatonton FUMC is an active and growing ministry. Most importantly, we seek to worship and praise the Lord and provide music that will bring people into a closer relationship with Christ, and we strive to do that with people of every age.
Wesley Ringers, our handbell choir, is directed by Boyd Dennard. They rehearse weekly on Sunday afternoon at 6:00 pm in the Upper Room located immediately off the main entrance to the office. They perform in worship services playing arrangements of both contemporary and traditional styles of music. New members are encouraged to join in September or January.
The Chancel choir is the most active group in our music program. Rehearsal time is each Wednesday at 7:30 pm in the choir suite of the Bauman Annex. The choir leads worship in the 11:00 a.m. service each week and at the 8:45 service once a month. We provide music for all special occasions during the church year. The choir’s largest project is “Christmas on the Avenue” which is performed at the Plaza Arts Center along with other church choirs in the community and an orchestra formed from local college musicians as well as professional musicians in the middle Georgia area.
The choir is open to those who like to sing (ages high school and above) and to those who have a passion and a commitment to sharing the gospel through music.
Children’s choirs are offered weekly 5:00-5:45p.m. in the Bauman Annex as a part of Wednesday night programs. The two groups, The Little Notes (kindergarten – first grade) and the Music Masters (second grade – fifth grade) are led by Mary Alice and Boyd Dennard. They participate in both our 8:45 and 11:00 worship services. This rehearsal time involves singing, rhythm games, and the introduction to choir chimes. Both choirs participate in seasonal programs throughout the church year as well as sing during the worship services 3 to 4 times. If is child interested in these choirs, please contact Boyd or Mary Alice Dennard by email – or the church office. 706-485- 5871.
